Privacy

The short version: Bemivo stores what you measure, in your account, and nothing else about your body. We do not sell data or show ads. To measure our own ads, the Android app tells Meta that it was installed and opened and a few steps taken in it, never anything you measured (details below).

On your phone, and on this website:

  • The last values you typed (weight, height, waist and the rest), your unit system and your choices stay on your phone so the app opens on your result. They never reach a server.
  • On this website, the calculators keep your last numbers in your browser's own storage, and nothing you type into them is sent anywhere. The site counts visits with PostHog (the pages viewed and what was clicked, with a country and city worked out from the IP address), which keeps an anonymous identifier in a cookie and in your browser's storage.
  • Deleting the app deletes all of it.

With an account (when you sign in with Apple or Google):

  • Your email address, if Apple or Google share it. We use it to recover your account, to send a few emails during your free trial (a welcome, a tip and a reminder the day before it ends), and to answer feedback you send from the app. We never see a password.
  • Your preferences: language, units and BMI cut-offs.
  • Your profiles (up to ten): a name you choose, sex and birth date (used only by the formulas), and height.
  • Your measurements: date, weight, body fat measured by a scale, waist, neck, hip, chest, arm, thigh and an optional note. Only numbers you actually typed are saved. BMI and every other result are calculated when shown, never stored.
  • Your goals and your reminders to weigh in and to measure (days and time). Reminders are scheduled on your phone and carry no message from our servers.
  • Your subscription, as the store reports it through RevenueCat: whether it is active, which store it is in, and when a free trial started and ends, so the trial reminder arrives on time.

We never collect photos, location, contacts or device fingerprints, and we hold no name, address or phone number of yours. The only advertising identifier involved is Android's, described under Ads below; on iPhone none is read.

Analytics: the app sends usage events to PostHog, such as which calculator was opened, which unit system was chosen, whether a paywall was reached or a purchase completed, that a measurement was saved and that feedback was sent. Nothing measured about a body is ever sent: no weight, height, waist, BMI, body fat, age or sex. Before you sign in, events carry only an anonymous identifier.

Ads (Meta), on Android only: the app includes Meta's SDK so we can measure our ads on Facebook and Instagram. It tells Meta that the app was installed and opened, three steps with no detail at all (reaching the plans, tapping to start a free trial, signing in), and your phone's advertising identifier, which you can reset or delete in Android's settings. When a free trial starts or a payment goes through on Android, RevenueCat tells Meta as well, with the price and the same identifiers, so Meta can tell which ad led to it. Nothing you measured and nothing about your body is ever sent to Meta. On iPhone the app sends Meta nothing; Apple only tells the ad network, anonymously, that an ad led to an install.

Feedback: what you write in Send feedback is emailed to us with your email, your account identifier, your language, the app version and your phone's system version, so we can answer you.

Widget: if you add the Home Screen widget (or, on iPhone, the Lock Screen one), the app writes the numbers it shows (a name, the trend weight, your goal progress and the last month's trend line) to your phone's own storage for the widget. When Pro ends or you sign out, they are replaced by a sentence. On the Lock Screen, iOS hides them while the phone is locked.

Exports and shares (CSV, PDF summary, the result image) go only where you send them from the system share sheet. Bemivo sends them nowhere itself.

Apple Health: Bemivo does not read or write Apple Health today. If that changes, it will be off until you turn it on, and this page will say exactly what is read before the feature ships.

Providers. They work for us under contract, may use your data only to run the service, and all store it in the United States:

  • Clerk (clerk.com): sign-in. Your Apple or Google sign-in and your email if shared.
  • Neon (neon.tech): the database. Your account, profiles, measurements, goals and reminders.
  • Vercel (vercel.com): the servers and this website. The requests the app makes while you use it.
  • RevenueCat (revenuecat.com): purchases. Your purchase and, after you sign in, your account identifier. On Android it also reports free trials and payments to Meta, as described above.
  • PostHog (posthog.com): analytics. The app's events and the website's visits, described above.
  • Resend (resend.com): email. Your email address, the emails we send you, and the feedback you send us.

Meta (Meta Platforms) receives the ad measurement described above under its own terms and privacy policy, as an independent company rather than a provider of ours.

Your data therefore travels outside your country, encrypted in transit, and is encrypted at rest. We keep it for as long as your account exists. We may disclose information where a competent authority legally requires it.

Your rights: you can ask for a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its processing, and complain to your data protection authority (in the European Union, your national authority; in Peru, the Autoridad Nacional de Protección de Datos Personales, under Law No. 29733). We honor these rights for everyone: write to support@bemivo.app and we answer within 30 days.

Bemivo is not directed to children. Accounts are for adults; the child BMI calculator is meant for parents and health professionals. Bemivo is operated by an independent developer, whose name and address are given to anyone who asks at support@bemivo.app, which is also our privacy contact.

Terms of use

By using Bemivo you agree to the following.

Not medical advice. Bemivo calculates and explains numbers such as BMI, body fat and daily calories. They are screening estimates, not a diagnosis, and Bemivo is not a medical device. Talk to a doctor about anything that worries you, and do not use Bemivo in an emergency.

Bemivo Pro. The app works with a Bemivo Pro subscription, which starts with a free trial; the calculators on this website are free. Pro keeps your history, goals, widgets, reminders, profiles, export and sync in an account, which means signing in with Apple or Google; you must be 18 or older to do so, and you are responsible for what happens in your account.

Subscription. Bemivo Pro is sold as a weekly subscription with a 3-day free trial or a yearly subscription with a 7-day free trial, billed by the store you bought it from (the App Store on iPhone, Google Play on Android) at the price shown before you confirm. We email you a reminder the day before a free trial ends. The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel before the current period ends: on the App Store at least 24 hours before, in your App Store account settings; on Google Play before the renewal date, in Google Play under Payments and subscriptions. A one-time lifetime purchase made in an earlier version stays valid. Refunds are handled by that store, under its own policy. On the App Store, Apple's standard license agreement (https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/) also applies.

Use. Do not use Bemivo for anything illegal, to reach other people's data, or to interfere with the service. We may close accounts that do.

Your data is yours. We store and process it only to show it back to you.

Warranties. The service is provided as is, without a warranty that it will be free of errors or interruptions. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect damages, loss of data, or decisions made on the basis of the app.

Changes. If the service, these terms or this policy change, the date above changes, and we tell you in the app when the change is significant.

Governing law: the laws of the Republic of Peru; the courts of Cercado de Lima. The English and Spanish versions carry equal weight.

Deleting your account

In the app: Settings, then “Delete account and data”. It is immediate and cannot be undone. Every profile, measurement, goal and reminder is deleted, then your sign-in account. The widget stops showing your numbers.

Without the app: write to support@bemivo.app from the address you signed in with, subject "Delete my account". We do it within 30 days and confirm it. Backups that may still hold your data are overwritten within the same period.

Your purchase belongs to your App Store or Google Play account, not to us, so it stays and can be restored later. Your history cannot.

Support

A question, a problem or an idea? Write to support@bemivo.app and we will get back to you, usually within two business days. Tell us your device, what you expected and what happened instead.
